Spectral Sequence Notes: Finiteness of homotopy groups
X Assume that X is locally finite, and let i ≥ 2 be the first dimension in which X has non-zero reduced homology. Then ΩX is i− 2 connected and Hi−1(ΩX) = πi−1(ΩX) = πi(X) = Hi(X) by using the Hurewicz theorem together with the shift in homotopy corresponding to Ω. So Hi−1(ΩX) is finitely generated. We will do induction, and this serves as our base space. [You might be worried about the case i ...
متن کاملHigher Divided Squares in Second-quadrant Spectral Sequences1
The geometric action of the Steenrod algebra on many mod 2 cohomology spectral sequences is complemented by the action of a completely different algebra.
متن کاملHopf Algebras up to Homotopy and the Bockstein Spectral Sequence
Anick proved that every q-mild Hopf algebra up to homotopy is isomorphic to the universal enveloping algebra of a chain Lie algebra. We provide a new proof, that involves extensive use of the Bockstein spectral sequence.
متن کاملSecond Leray spectral sequence of relative hypercohomology.
A second Leray spectral sequence of relative hypercohomology is constructed. (This is skew in generality to an earlier one constructed by S. Lubkin [(1968) Ann. Math. 87, 105-255].) The Mayer-Vietoris sequence of relative hypercohomology [Lubkin, S. (1968) Ann. Math. 87, 105-255] is also generalized.
متن کاملHomotopy Spectral Sequences
In homotopy theory, exact sequences and spectral sequences consist of groups and pointed sets, linked by actions. We prove that the theory of such exact and spectral sequences can be established in a categorical setting which is based on the existence of kernels and cokernels with respect to an assigned ideal of null morphisms, a generalisation of abelian categories and Puppe-exact categories.
